Outreach for Parents
The Unicorn School hosts evening seminars for parents in the local community, demonstrating ways in which they can support their children’s literacy at home.
Sessions are tailored for parents of either primary or secondary age children, and employ an innovative “carousel” format with parents rotating around 4 micro-workshops; each offering support on a specific aspect including reading, spelling, mind-mapping, and supporting working memory.
To date a total of 62 parents from local schools have attended our seminars. Invitations to the parent community are extended through collaboration with 29 local schools, ensuring that our Outreach Programme reaches the entire local community.
If you would like to find out more about how our outreach programme can help you support your child’s learning at home, please contact our Outreach Co-ordinator, Mrs Clare Roberts, via The Unicorn School office.
