Supporting LiteracyTeachers’ Inset Seminars

In December 2015 we hosted the first of our Inset Seminars for Teachers and TAs of KS1 and KS2 pupils. As our knowledge and experience grow we plan to extend this support to KS3 Teachers and TAs too.

We continue to invite schools to come to The Unicorn School where we deliver INSET days to teachers so they can identify children with dyslexia and know how to help pupils who are finding literacy difficult.

Many educational professionals ask to visit The Unicorn School to see what we do; we have welcomed trainee students through to highly qualified SENCOs and Head Teachers with the objective of spreading the word.

Partnerships with Schools

Unicorn School teachers continue to visit local primary and secondary schools, delivering presentations to teachers, teaching assistants and parents of children who have literacy difficulties.

Staff who have attended sessions commented that they now have more insight as to what dyslexia is, how it effects a child in the classroom and what they can do to support children’s learning.

This term we are visiting Mary Hare School, Littlemore Primary School, John Henry Newman Academy, Windmill Primary School and Rush Common Primary School.

Do you know of or are you from a local school that might be interested in an Outreach visit or INSET day? Then please contact us by emailing clare.roberts@unicornoxford.co.uk
